Privacy policy

Last updated: 2 September 2026

Local SEO Marketing ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), as a matter of practice regardless of whether the small business exemption currently applies to us.

What we collect

From website visitors:

  • Name, email, phone number and business name when you fill in a form or request a free grid scan
  • The business details you give us so we can run a scan — trading name, address, service area, category
  • Technical data collected automatically: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring site, time on site

From clients:

  • Business and contact details, billing information and account history
  • Google Business Profile access and profile data
  • Performance data from your profile — views, searches, calls, direction requests, review activity
  • Correspondence between us

Where call tracking is part of your subscription, we facilitate the collection of caller phone numbers, call times and durations, and in some setups call recordings. This is personal information about your customers, not about you. It's collected through our third-party call tracking provider and made available to you through your dashboard and reports. You are the party responsible for how that information is used, and for ensuring callers are properly notified about recording as required by law in the states you operate in. We access it only to produce your reports and troubleshoot your setup.

Payments: payment card details are collected and processed directly by Shopify and its payment processors. We never see or store your full card number.

Why we collect it

  • To deliver the services you've bought
  • To produce grid scans, audits and reports
  • To confirm territory availability and manage exclusivity
  • To process payments and manage your subscription
  • To respond to enquiries and provide support
  • To send you service updates and, if you haven't opted out, marketing about our services
  • To improve our services and website
  • To meet our legal and tax obligations

Who we share it with

We don't sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us deliver our services, and only as much as they need:

  • Shopify — website, checkout and subscription management
  • Google — Business Profile management, Workspace email, analytics
  • Local Falcon — geo-grid ranking scans
  • BrightLocal — reporting
  • Publer — Google Post scheduling
  • WhatConverts — call tracking and reporting
  • n8n — workflow automation
  • Our accountant, bookkeeper and professional advisers
  • Subcontractors and offshore team members who perform production work under confidentiality obligations

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.

Our website is hosted by Shopify

This website and checkout are hosted by Shopify. Information you submit through the site is transmitted to and stored by Shopify, including on servers outside Australia, so that Shopify can provide and improve the platform.

Shopify also uses information about your interactions with our store — alongside data from other merchants and from Shopify itself — to provide certain enhanced platform features. For that processing, Shopify acts on its own behalf rather than ours, and is responsible for handling any requests you make about it. You can read how Shopify uses your personal information, and exercise any rights you have in relation to it, at privacy.shopify.com.

Overseas disclosure

Several of the providers above store data outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. Some of our production subcontractors are located overseas. By using our services you consent to your information being disclosed to these overseas recipients. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, but we can't guarantee that overseas recipients will be subject to privacy laws equivalent to Australia's.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies for essential functions (cart, checkout, security), to remember preferences, and to understand how people use the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.

Marketing

If you've given us your details, we may send you occasional emails about our services. Every marketing email has a working unsubscribe link and we act on unsubscribes promptly. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

We make outbound sales calls to businesses. We comply with the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth) and will remove you from our calling list on request — just say so on the call or email us.

Security and retention

We protect personal information with access controls, encrypted storage, two-factor authentication on business-critical accounts, and restricted access on a need-to-know basis. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

We keep client records for 7 years after your subscription ends to meet Australian tax and record-keeping requirements. Enquiry data from people who don't become clients is kept for up to 2 years. Call tracking data is retained according to the settings on your account. We destroy or de-identify information when we no longer need it.

Data breaches

If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we'll notify affected individuals and, where required, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Accessing and correcting your information

Email admin@localseomarketing.com.au to ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction, ask for a copy of it, or ask us to delete it. We'll respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first. If we refuse a request, we'll explain why in writing and tell you how to complain.

You can opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. We'll still send you emails about your account and your subscription.

Complaints

If you think we've mishandled your personal information, email admin@localseomarketing.com.au with the details. We'll acknowledge within 5 business days and respond within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, on 1300 363 992, or by writing to GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001.

Children

Our services are for businesses. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page with its date at the top. We'll tell clients directly about any material change.
